Workplace design & build

Senior Technical Designer

Senior Technical Designer, Central London. £60,000–£75,000 plus a performance-based bonus. Work on workplace fit-out projects from £500,000 to £8 million, with one day a week working from home.

Central London · Permanent

Projects ranging from £500,000 to £8 million give this Senior Technical Designer role variety in both scale and technical detail. Joining a commercial workplace design and fit-out business in Central London, you’ll develop the drawings that turn workplace designs into clearly defined project information.

This is a permanent opportunity with a challenger brand that has several years of steady growth behind it. You’ll put your technical design experience to use across a varied portfolio, with a remit focused on the detail of how spaces and their individual elements come together.

What You’ll Do

Working with an existing design team of four, you’ll create technical drawing packs for commercial workplace projects. Your work will connect the overall arrangement of a space with the detailed information describing its components, bringing the different views and details together into a coherent pack.

Your drawing packs will include:

  • Space plans setting out the arrangement of the workplace.
  • Elevations showing the design beyond the plan view.
  • Joinery drawings defining individual elements.
  • Detailed drawings explaining the finer aspects of the proposed work.

The emphasis is on technical design rather than a solely concept-led remit. You’ll contribute your specialist knowledge alongside the other designers, developing drawing information that clearly communicates the proposed workplace and its details.

What You’ll Get

You’ll receive a salary of £60,000–£75,000, plus a performance-based bonus.

The working pattern is four days a week in the Central London office and one day a week working from home. This gives you regular in-person time with your colleagues as well as a weekly home-working day.

A strong team culture is a further attraction, offering a collaborative setting for work that brings together layouts, elevations and detailed design.

What You’ll Need

You’ll need at least five years’ experience in design and build as a technical design specialist. Your background should be directly relevant to creating technical drawing packs, giving you the experience to connect spatial layouts with the detailed elements of a design.

You’ll draw on that knowledge across space plans, elevations, joinery and detailed drawings. This is an opportunity to apply an established technical specialism within a design team, rather than move away from hands-on drawing work.

About the Company

The business operates in commercial workplace design and fit-out. Its projects cover a range of values, providing a setting where technical design contributes to workplace schemes of different scales.
