Workplace design & build

Project Manager

Lead complex £3–10m CAT B projects in Central London. £100,000–£120,000 plus a £20,000–£30,000 performance-based bonus. Four office days, one day at home, with optional EU projects.

Central London · Permanent

Take responsibility for complex, negotiated CAT B projects worth £3–10m, with quality and lasting client relationships at the centre of delivery. This Project Manager role combines substantial projects for UK-based and international blue-chip clients with the reputation and technical resources of an internationally recognised design and build contractor.

You’ll join a stable, experienced Central London team who enjoy their work, as the business continues to grow steadily. The opportunity is to bring your experience of leading multiple jobs to a setting where the finished work and the strength of the client relationship matter, rather than margin chasing alone. You’ll retain commercial accountability while delivering projects that give clients a reason to return.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Contracts Director, you’ll take responsibility for bringing the programme, subcontractor activity, client relationships and quality of delivery together. Site Managers and Quantity Surveyors will report to you, with project secretaries also forming part of the delivery team.

Your remit will include:

  • Writing project programmes that give the team a clear framework for delivery, and keeping that programme central to your work with subcontractors.
  • Liaising with subcontractors to keep their work organised around the requirements of each project and the standard expected of the finished fit-out.
  • Managing client relationships throughout delivery, keeping clients satisfied while taking responsibility for the quality of the work they receive.
  • Maintaining project margin alongside high delivery standards. The emphasis on quality does not remove your commercial responsibilities; it shapes how you balance them.
  • Securing repeat business through successful delivery and strong client relationships, making the way each job is run as important as its completion.

You’ll work within a structure that does not typically use Project Directors to run individual jobs. Instead, delivery brings you together with designers and pre-contracts managers. Understanding how those roles work together will be an important part of establishing yourself, alongside building effective working relationships with your own delivery team.

Your early priorities will be to understand the company’s structure and its quality-led, repeat-client approach, then successfully deliver your first one or two jobs. That gives you a clear starting point: learn how the business operates and put that understanding into practice on live projects.

What You’ll Get

The salary is £100,000–£120,000, plus a performance-based bonus of £20,000–£30,000. Expenses, including travel expenses, are covered. There is no equity element to the package.

This is a permanent, full-time position, with working hours of 08:30–17:30. You’ll spend four days in the Central London office and one day working from home, combining regular time with colleagues with a defined home-working day.

International work is available if it appeals to you, but it is optional. Alongside London projects, you could take on two or three EU jobs a year. Strong local teams support those projects, so travel requires only short initial set-up visits rather than an extended overseas presence. You can therefore consider the international element on its own merits, without treating it as a requirement of joining.

What You’ll Need

You’ll need at least five years’ experience with tier-one design and build contractors, including responsibility for £3–7m projects as the number one on delivery. You should bring a successful record as a senior project or contracts manager running multiple jobs, with the experience to hold the programme, commercial position and client relationship together.

Your approach should be collaborative, organised and mature. You’ll need to build an effective team, work across disciplines and take ownership of delivery without losing sight of the people involved. Working with designers, pre-contracts managers, site teams and quantity surveyors calls for someone who can bring those contributions together around the job.

Traditional fit-out experience would also be helpful, but it is desirable rather than essential. No specific formal qualifications are required.

About the Company

The business is an internationally recognised design and build contractor and architectural practice with offices across the globe. Its London team brings together architects, interior designers, engineers, workplace strategists and construction specialists, supported by colleagues across its international network.

That breadth of expertise gives the practice the technical depth to carry ambitious designs through to delivery. For you, it means working within a business that connects design and construction expertise, with quality and repeat client relationships central to its delivery approach.
